Anne Rice's Vampire Lestat: Stephen Amell, Chris Hemsworth or Anson Mount?

March 15, 2014
Anne Rice is bringing her famed vampire Lestat back for a new novel, "Prince Lestat." Almost immediately, this news got fans going about who should play the devilish and charming undead man. Rice herself seems to have three picks: Stephen Amell ("Arrow"), Chris Hemsworth ("Thor") and Anson Mount ("Hell on Wheels").

The author explained her choices in a Facebook post:

"I love all the Lestats you're posting on the page, the handsome actors and charmers. But let us not forget Chris Hemsworth who has Lestat's square face, cheerful eyes, and voice. And let us not forget Stephen Amell either who also greatly resembles Lestat and has the body and face of a god; and also Anson Mount who seemed at times to be Lestat prowling the frontier in 'Hell on Wheels.'"

For those who remember earlier film incarnations of Lestat -- played by Tom Cruise in "Interview with a Vampire" and Stuart Townsend in "Queen of the Damned" -- this may seem a bit of a departure for the vampire.

He is, however, Rice's creation. She would probably know best -- and her three picks would be fascinating as undead hunks.
